Why We Exist
Media polarization is real. The same event can be reported in radically different ways depending on which outlet you read. Headlines emphasize different angles. Context gets selectively included or omitted. Over time, people who consume news from only one side of the spectrum develop very different understandings of what's happening in the world.
The Parallax exists to show you the full picture. Every day, we aggregate news from sources across the political spectrum and show you how the same stories are being covered by different outlets. We don't tell you what to think—we show you what everyone is saying, so you can form your own view.

How It Works
Each morning, our automated system pulls the latest articles from 15 curated news sources. We use AI to identify when multiple outlets are covering the same underlying story, then cluster those articles together.
For each major story, we synthesize what's being reported and explicitly show how different outlets are framing the same events. We include direct links to original sources so you can read the full coverage yourself.
Importantly, we enforce balance: every story in our digest must include perspectives from both left-leaning and right-leaning sources. If we can only find coverage from one side of the spectrum, we don't include it.

What We're Not
We're not a fact-checker. We don't grade sources or tell you who's "right." Our goal is transparency about how different outlets cover the same events—not to act as arbiters of truth.
We're also not comprehensive. We surface major stories that get coverage across the spectrum. Niche stories, local news, and topics only covered by one side won't appear in our digest.
Built With AI
The Parallax is generated using Claude, an AI assistant from Anthropic. The AI handles clustering related stories and synthesizing coverage, while the source selection, balance requirements, and editorial framework are human-designed.
We believe AI can be a powerful tool for information synthesis without ideological bias—when properly designed and constrained. Our balance enforcement ensures the AI can't inadvertently favor one side.
